Hi. I agree with what you say and am trying to work but its very hard with endless appointments, etc. But also, I feel very looked down on because I do not work. I get asked ‘What do you do for a living?’ I think people that just care for disabled children and don’t work are also seen as ‘not good enough’ as it seems that society expects all parents to want to go out to work and maybe not all parents want to. Maybe some are just as happy to stay at home, but a lot of people seem to think that is strange and basically – lazy!!

I hear you. I think the fundamental problem is that we are damned if we do, damned if we don’t. And whatever we choose or have chosen for us, we should not be judged for it. We are all just making the best of the challenges we face. It is outrageous that anyone implies you are not good enough. We are all in this together. Thank you for reading and commenting.

Thanks so much for your words. They are close to my heart! Our 15 month old micro preemie has interventricular brain bleeds as well as a PVL and everyday as we watch him grow and change we are hit with the unspoken questions of how will things turn out for him…will he be able to care for himself…we love him with all our hearts and sometimes the unknown is just so overwhelming! We travel two hours out of town each week for physical and occupational therapy and will also be starting speech therapy soon. Please stay strong and know that there are others in your shoes and your words have given me comfort and strength to continue to forge ahead and put one foot in front of the other on this crazy journey that so few truly understand!
